VLC doesnt show video from an AVI file, but plays the sound.

Using VLC 2.0.8 in a Windows XP SP3 32 bits and Windows 7 Professional 64 bits, playing this video:

VLC reproduces the sound, but not the video (it is all black).

Using Windows Media Player 9.00.00.4503 in XP SP3, PLAYS THE SOUND AND VIDEO WELL.
Using Windows Media Player 12.0.7601.17514 in Windows 7 Professional 64 bits, shows only a static image (taken from the video) and plays the sound.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Use another hosting site than Mega and upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

In the log, there is one error line:

But why Windows Media Player (from XP, not from Win7) can reproduce the video successfully and not VLC?

Palette?

VLC says Palettized RGB with palette element R:G:B.
The window resizes to the size of the video though but the screen remains black.
FFplay says Pal8 and it's playing it.
