MKV file shows stuttering

Postby nfotis » 19 Sep 2013 22:03

Hello there,

I have VLC 2.0.3 on Windows XP on a Thinkpad T60 laptop (Intel graphics), 3 GB RAM and a 2 GHz Centrino Duo processor (Intel T7200).

Yesterday, I stumbled upon a very heavy file that causes stuttering:

Did anybody try this particular file?
I wonder if newer versions of VLC could help with this one (the worst segment was in the thousands of birds segment, but even before that there were stutters).

Regards,
N.F.

First, please try with VLC 2.1.0-rc2.

Secondly, does it help if your turn the subtitles off ?

But a 2 GHz Centrino CPU might be too weak for software rendering of a 1080 H.264 @L5.1 video though (VLC can't use hardware acceleration on XP).
