Possibility to move VLC window by dragging video screen

Postby Supermies123 » 20 Aug 2013 12:48

It would be great if it was possible to to move VLC window by dragging video screen with mouse instead of dragging titlebar.
For example in GOM player you can do it.

It already works that way for me… at least in OS X.

Yeah, I need this also. I think MPC can do this thing too.

NiftyWindows based on AutoHotkey works for VLC: right mouse button & drag the centre of the video window.

That is far from an ideal solution. It should just be possible to drag the VLC window by the video screen natively. Would be very useful for touch users.

I too would like the ability to move the VLC window by simply dragging any part of the video screen (instead of just dragging the titlebar) by clicking the left mouse button and moving the mouse. The only way I can get this functionality in Ubuntu/Mint is to hold the ALT key down, then use the mouse. VLC natively does this by the way in the Mac OS as I've tried it, just not in Linux.

Yes this seems to be a much desired request. I've talked with quite a few others in the community who would love to see this feature in VLC also.

Wow, thanks! That solves the problem, haha. :D

What do you mean far from ideal? It was good and working not only for VLC, but other opened windows too! :?:

Nothing against NiftyWindows, I just think VLC should support it without the need for additional software.

I definitely vote for this (and for pausing the video by clicking on the screen to be default like MPC).
