VLC and DVB-T not working on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Hi folks,
I have just acquired a USB TV tuner (PixelView PlayTV USB SBTVD) and I am trying to use with on Ubuntu.
I guess it should not be that hard, but still I am having some troubles.

My SO: Ubuntu 12.04
VLC version: 2.0.5 Twoflower (revision 2.0.5-0-g1661b7d)

So, I generated the channels.conf:

And then used the command,

It shows the playlist and the channels that are configured on the channels.conf file, but it does not show the player, just the playlist manager.
I even tried to force the player to appear on the X using:

But still it did not work.
Is there something that should be configured that I am forgetting?
