WMV/WMA - not supported from VLC 2.0.8

Hello support. There is already critical bug for new version.
The player crash immediately when playing WMV and WMA files.

Confirmed, and it seems to be the audio doing that as I have some video only WMV files which are playing fine.

You should create a new ticket on the VLC Trac with your messages log and the link to this thread.

I was about to post the same issue as the original poster's issue. I hope they will take care of it soon.

I found the exact problem. It was WMA format. If I play WMV without audio stream, it running. But if it have WMA it crash.
Here is info of problem codec:

Format : WMA
Format version : Version 2
Codec ID : 161
Codec ID/Info : Windows Media Audio
Description of the codec : Windows Media Audio (v2) 7, 8 and 9 Series
Bit rate : 128 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits

Message log does not work, because of crashing.
I can not report this bug, because it require registration of user.

There should be a fixed version available tonight, meanwhile you can use this DLL to replace the original one:

I am afraid for new plugin dll library now, because my OS cancel installation of @Lotesdelere for compatibility reason with Windows 8.
