Corrupted video file if VLC quits?

Corrupted video file if VLC quits?

Postby vlcmang » 24 Jul 2013 05:48

It seems if VLC.exe quits while recording a video stream it completely corrupts the .mp4 file. I've had it happen on multiple occasion so I have tried to simplify the questions I have.

Is there a better format rather than mp4 that will still keep the file playable even if VLC quits unexpectantly and if so what is that file format that VLC can do?

If there is a better format, is it possible to set the preferences in VLC player to use that better format by default?

MPEG-TS.

Thank you for posting that. No one mentioned but I just noticed that there is a simple or all setting in preferences. I chose all but I still don't see where you can choose to use something other than mp4 for your default output. Is that possible to do?
