VLC on Arch : No Vaapi

Hello. I try to have VLC on my arch freshly installed with the acceleration functional.

The use of the gpu is checked in the option. Vlc did not mention the use of libva or any error in the console message.

Everything looks good at the driver (vainfo ok) but VLC does not seem to try to use va-api.

An idea?

Yes, of course and same issue with -ffmpeg-hw. But no sign of libva with this version.
I've just test with git version 2.1.

This time i see libva... But i have "acceleration is not available".

Everything is ok with mplayer-VAAPI or before with vlc but in fedora.

Your libavcodec build does not support VA-API, only VDPAU (and pure software).

And for VLC 2.1, it seems you did not enable hardware decoding in the preferences...

It is the standard of ffmpeg arch ... Version 1.1.2-2.

The gpu option was checked in the options of 2.1. This is just the ffmpeg-hw flag that is no longer usable on the git release.

Should i test with ffmpeg git version ? I can use libva with mplayer-vaapi. For vlc I came back with the stable 2.0.6. I do not understand why libva turns with mplayer but not with VLC.

I would also like to get this working. I am on arch with the same official packages.
However I think also xorg has to be configured somehow to allow loading of libva-intel-driver.
I am using vlc mainly for watching dvb-s. This is mpeg2 I believe I should be able to decode with intel integrated video card.

Edit: I think there is no configuration needed as shown on the arch wiki VAAPI page. There is even gst-vaapi package to let gstreamer use hardware decoding where available.

Okay in order to get libva capable ffmpeg in arch, build and install ffmpeg-full (from AUR).
However after installing this and running VLC, it crashes for mewhen trying to play a mpeg2 stream...
