[SOLVED]How to make an image for a cursor in screen capture?

Postby saultdon » 11 Jul 2013 00:13

I made a 32*32px SVG in Inkscape that I exported to a PNG (Image).

After I placed the image path in the VLC settings and do a screen capture, the mouse cursor is still invisible.
C:\Users\userman\Pictures\cursor.png

I tried on both VLC 2.0.6/2.0.7 32 and 64 bit but none want to show up on the screen capture output.

Are there some existing instructions on the right file format, size and other restrictions? I didn't find anything searching the forums or the wiki.
I'm not sure why my cursor isn't showing up.

Maybe the options in GIMP export can make a working png image from the SVG? Below are the defaults and I can't see that image as a cursor either.

Figured it out!!

You have to prefix the image path with file:///

Changed C:\Users\userman\Pictures\cursor.png -> file:///C:\Users\userman\Pictures\cursor.png

It doesn't matter if the rest of the slashes in the path are backwards slashes, only the slashes immediately after file: HAVE TO BE forward slashes.

Sneaky sneaky...
