VLC won't start in Fedora Core 4

I've downloaded vlc through yum and livna and I think it all went ok, but it won't start it shows this message:
"vlc: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libavformat.so: undefined symbol: dc1394_create_handle"
btw I'm kind of a linux n00b so I'm really stuck and have no idea how to fix this.
Any help would be great.
