mms access error

*nix specific usage questions

mms access error

In the LAN both server and client are in redhat.
On the server, the command line is:
$ ./vlc -vvv /home/winddy/a.wmv --sout '#std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,url=:8080}'

On the client (I just copied the "vlc"file to one directory) , the command line is
$ ./vlc mmsh://server.ip.address:8080

the following error occurs:
[00000223] access_mms access error :cannot connect to server.ip.address:8080
[00000221]main input error :no suitable access module for "mmsh://server.ip.address:8080"
[00000215]main playlist:nothing to play

If I use http protocol. The similar error about http occures too.
what's the matter?

please provide full -vvv debug logging from both server and client.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

When i use one VLC(compile by my self ,on PC1) as a server , the following are command and messages:

What EXACT version is the other client running then? where did you download? And are you sure you don't have a firewall issue? Cause it sure looks like one to me.

the version is 0.8.2 downloaded from the http://www.videolan.org.

We share the LAN via a switch, not a hub ,may be there is someting with the switch?

Now I can stream the stream from vlc in linux to vlc in windows ,by reinstalling the redhat ,may be there was something wrong with the os .
but WMP still cannot receive the stream .the vlc is caching and caching .
the vlc in linux can detect the connection ,but the ip of the new connection is the ip address of the proxy server.
