How to know what GPU's are supported?

Are there any way to see what GPU's are safe to use with VLC, for hardware support and stutterfree playback?
I notice the newest version (2.0.6) just added "Fix GPU decoding on Intel HD 2000/3000 on Windows", so I suppose a few months ago HD 2000/3000 was not a safe buy?

What about the new AMD-APU's, Richland?
The new A10-models, with HD 8670D and HD 7660D GPU.
Would like to buy the "A10-6700" which seems like a great buy, but I don't know if it'll work with VLC?

Do we need to wait a year for devs to implement specific code for these GPU's?
And same thing each time a new "curcuit" comes out with a new name?
Or is it like all Radeon works, all Nvidia works, and maybe even all Intel works, unless they make any huge changes in upcoming models?

Any GPU with working DirectX drivers will work, on Windows, except for VLC bugs. Since VLC bugs are mostly unknown or poorly understood, there will never be a list of affected hardware.

Stutter depends on performance, which depends on far more variables than just the GPU.

Ah, ok, so no need to search for supported GPU's then, or "Nvidia is better than AMD in VLC" or anything like that - great
