Bug situation:
[] suddenly I notice that VLC isn't working with MKV nor MP4 files - dark or dropped frames (AVI files play fine).
[] Verified that same files could be viewed with Win 7 Media Player - no problem
[] Tried reloading VLC - no change
[] Rolled back to earlier version - no change
[] Tried reloading GPU drivers - no change
Any suggestions ?

Disable hardware decoding or change video output method. Probably a driver problem anyway.
