VLC 2.0.6 error with MPEG 4 (AAC) Audio

Postby NL Derek » 24 May 2013 20:07

Hi I have been converting AVI files (generated with VideoPad) to MP4 using VLC but since the update to 2.0.6 I get an error: "VLC could not open the encoder". This happens when I use Audio codec MPEG 4 Audio (AAC).

I reinstalled 2.0.5 and it was OK, updated to 2.0.6 and the error returned. I tested under both Windows XP (SP3, 32-bit) and Windows 7. I can convert OK using codec MPEG Audio but my application demands AAC for adequate quality.

Any troubleshooting hints? For the time being I shall re-install 2.0.5 but I do like to keep my PC up-to-date.

Thanks in advance,

--- Derek

Refresh shows this to be a parallel to a post by GMV_Lyon a couple of hours earlier.

Some conversion troubles have been found in VLC 2.0.6 so please revert back to v2.0.5 or use this build:
