Fullscreen controls

Postby nvx » 22 May 2013 19:10

Hi there,

Is it by any chance possible to make the fullscreen playback controls appear only if mouse cursor is near, say, the bottom screen edge? Personally, I do not see the need to show the controls every time the cursor moves, even if it moved just because the mouse happens to be on a surface that makes the cursor "jiggle" or because I had to move the mouse to conveniently place a cup of tea... ;)

Second, I noticed that persistent bookmarks (i.e., bookmarks that would be available even after restarting VLC) have been requested for several years now but are still not available. It may well be that if I save a playlist then the bookmarks will be there the next time I open this particular playlist file, but let us be realistic here: who would want to save a playlist every time bookmarks have been added? Can we expect automatically saved bookmarks to be available any time soon? I am no programmer, but it seems to me that even a plain text file containing one file name and the respective bookmark position (time? frame?) per one line (that is, multiple lines for a file with multiple bookmarks) would be pretty much the solution. Of course, there are plenty of other and possibly better approaches, but I merely wanted to illustrate that this should not be difficult to implement.

Media Library is the persistent playlist ("ml.xspf") that is automatically loaded/saved by VLC.

Well, I enabled the Media Library (Preferences > All > Playlists > Use media library), added a folder with a few video files into the library via the playlist interface, opened a random file in the Media Library playlist, added a bookmark (Ctrl+B > Create) and guess what -- after restarting VLC and opening the same file as before (again via the ML playlist) the bookmark was gone. To be precise, the list of bookmarks was empty, but when I tried to add a new bookmark, the previous one mysteriously appeared. Nonetheless, even though the original bookmark seemed to have been saved, I still was not able to jump to that particular position in the video without adding another bookmark. :?
