DLNA browsing details

Postby Naito » 20 May 2013 06:18

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how the new Canon 6D's Wifi DLNA server works, and it seems VLC has gotten a lot of what I need working, so I want to figure out how VLC does it.

Can anyone tell me how VLC gets the URLs to populate each node in the UPNP browser? How it eventually gets the location URL for a piece of media under media information?

I'm sure I could probably find this by reading the code......but I really don't want to dig through all that if someone could explain that quickly. I'm guessing it looks at one of the various XML files that provides an index with all the necessary filenames and URLs etc?

Thanks much in advance!!
