Over rated video player

I haven't used VLC player but i have decided to give it a try since my favorite player Crystal Player have problem playing some video files and i have disappointed few minutes later after using it. And this is some of the reasons why:

1. It doesn't have option for detailed set of subtitles font, only normal, large and larger.
2. If i change the subtitles font or other settings related to subtitles i have to restart the player so the changes to take effect.
3. It doesn't remember subtitles sync set. If i stop the movie then i have to synchronize the subtitles again when i start the movie, in cases when the subtitles are not synchronized with the video.
4. In full screen with every mouse move it shows the buttons bar which is annoying. It will be better if the buttons bar is shown only when the mouse touch the bottom screen edge.
5. The time toolbar is too small. From a little long distance it is not possible to see how much time of the movie have passed.

There is also other announces but for me these are enough for me to uninstall it. I don't understand how people can like this player, it is not user friendly at all. Even so it have more option than Crystal Player i still prefer it than VLC Player.

Wow - that makes it over-rated?

I have found VLC to be the best media player I have used over the last 20 years of computing. I make videos and animations using various programs and the ONLY program to play every single video I have ever made or watched, online and offline, has been VLC.

I am not saying it is perfect, my music collection is managed by Windows Media Player, but WMP only plays mp3 and windows formats (wav, wma etc.) and WMP certainly cannot play 5.1 or higher, and DTS on WMP is a joke; I also had a recording studio some years ago and all my music formats are read by vlc for previewing, edited, and converted with Sound Forge into crappy mp3 format for Media Player to use.

Any short clips needed from a program or video are easily recorded as a new snippet which is an exact replica of the media being played - the same format, dimensions, bit-rate - just press the red record button to start and again to stop.

The program is superb, the best I have ever used, plays just about every format of audio and video - I do come across a few mpegs every two or three months that it does not play, but these are very old ones that probably used codecs that really are not used anymore and so few and far between as to make no difference to me. If that happens I know by past experience that Windows media player will possibly play them, it does around 50% of the time.

Over-rated? certainly not.
