VLC recording video as MP3?? (not MP4)

Postby VLCnewbee » 30 Apr 2013 02:22

Hello, I have tried to follow the pretty basic instructions for saving a video file to the libraries/videos folder.

Original file format is AVI.

I made a start and stop point and hit record, at the start and end.

The file is saved okay but a *.mp3, NOT mp4 as it said it would save it. Which means it isnt actually a video file...

What have I missed?

Thanks.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

H.264 into AVI is not a good idea but I'm not sure that's where the problem lies.

Anyway, please upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Tinyupload.com, and then post the link to the file here.

Cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57724&p=193335#p193335
50 MB max should be enough.
