Using EZ Brabber USB 2.0 - no Audio

Postby bandicut » 01 Oct 2008 09:27

Hi,

to capture video and audio from analog devices, i bought ab USB2.0 Grabber with composite an stereo cinch.

Amazon Link

But in "open capture device" i can only select the video device name (VC500 video). the audio device name only show me my soundcard an headset. is there a way to find out the audio device name to set it manual in the command line?

Code: Select all

dshow:// :dshow-vdev="VC500 Video" :dshow-adev="??????"

AFAIK it doesn't work in VLC. You can check the device name from Virtualdub or use some other DIrectShow device, but I doesn't work if you paste it to VLC. This might be fixed in future.

ok...

but if i use the given software or dscaler, audio is played fine.

also startet devlist.exe and see that the capture device "vc500 video" has a pin 03 as audio output...
maybe i can get vlc or dshow to use this pin instead of my 2 audio device listet?

It is Directshow crossbar thingy. It isn't implemented in VLC yet. That is why some devices work (they have separate audio device) and certain ones don't (they don't have).

Hello,

just having a similar issue:

the audio device (SMI Grabber) is not available in the list.
I don't think this is a driver issue as the tool delivered with the USB stick works (but provide a poor video quality...), and an other tool called CaptureFlux, but which loose some frames, where VLC seems far better. with those 2 tools I can chose SMI grabber audio and of course record sound.

the only devices I can see are DEfault, none, and microphone
changing options in Windows control panel->sound->recording by allowing the stereo mix to

appear, makes this choice available for VLC, but still no sound.

wondering if any update on this topic for VLC 2.0.6?

a workaround would be appreciated :)

thanks,

Olivier
