Player crashes 5 sec after starup

I installed vlc 0.8.2 on my iBook G4 with OS x tiger. The player worked fine until I had to force terminate the aplication. Now the player crashes 4-5 sec. after I try to start the aplication. PLz help I really wan't to use this great player.

i am having the same prob in my powerbook, with osx 10.4.2. could someone please help us solve this problem. 'cause i really enjoyed the player, and with this issue i'll be forced to change to another player !!!

I was having the same exact problems. Go to your user directory/Library/Preferences/ find and delete the VLC folder and you should be golden.

nop! i have done that! for thosens of times, and that didn't correct the problem. this is just a temporary fix. soon or later, vlc crashs again... it started when i updated the SO. it could be some sort of incompatibility...

Try repairing permissions after deleting the /library/preferences folder. It seem to work for me.
