Hello Jean-Baptiste and others,

I work for a technology company in Los Angeles that specializes in security systems with remote viewing capabilities.

We are very much in need of a Mac alternative to Quicktime, for some reason our DVR systems RTSP feed is not very compatible with Quicktime, but VLC seems to do fine with it.

Our customers are requesting a Mac viewing option, and I have come to look at VLC web plugin.  I understand that the plugin is not fully mature for Mac OS X, especially x64.  But, we have a large interest in getting this working for our company.

I just spoke with our CTO and told him that there was mention of financing remote developers associated with the project to finish up the plugin.

We are serious about this offer and would like to talk further.  Please reply here on the forums, or via private message and I can give you further details on my contact information and the company.

I downloaded your provided plugins, copy it into library/internet plugins, then I open Safari and I try the web-interface with my dreambox 8000, and finally I get the video working well for me, I use Macbook pro midi 2010 OS X 10.8.3 in Wifi.
I've only a question, what does it mean the message I get wen i open the Web Interface.....windows output mode using CorAnimation?

Can anyone update me on the status of the VLC web plugin for Chrome on Mountain Lion 32 bit?

According to Synology I should use it together with their video station app, in order to play certain file formats. However, so far no luck installing the plugin for chrome on my macbook air 32 bit with mountain lion.

Is there some kind of howto on compiling the browser plugin?

I looked into the wiki and just found a deleted article called "Browser Plugin Spec".

The plugin from http://people.videolan.org/~jb/tmp/maco ... plugin.zip works for me in Safari 5.1.9 (although a bit sluggish and in fullscreen there is a white block under the video ... so not really fullscreen). It shows the following before you start the video:

VLC Multimedia Plug-in
2.0.6 Twoflower
windowed output mode using CoreAnimation

It would be great to be able to use the plugin in Google Chrome.

Note that this build doesn't include our branding (aka the gray "VLC multi-media plugin" blabla screen), but will show a black screen instead.

FYI: this build runs in Safari, too. It doesn't support Firefox though.

Nothing appear (no "missing plugin" or something similar, NOTHING)

Same thing for http://cl.ly/0u0m1845290y, tried unsuccessfully with chrome....
Here "no plugin" appear....

Is there any update to this? I am developing a streaming application and the only possible plugin seems to be VLC. I need to run it on a Chrome browser on Samsung tablets and on a Mac with Mavericks. Even if it isn't available and there is nothing I can do, a definitive answer would be great.

Regarding Chrome on Samsung tablets, this doesn't seem to be very feasible since this seems to imply that those tablets run Android. There are 0 web browsers available on Android supporting any kind of plugin.

Hi,

habe das Plugin unter Chrome und Safari kurz getestet. Unter Chrome scheint es recht stabil zu sein (ich hatte einen Absturz - leider macht Chrome keine CrashDumps für die Plugins). Unter Safari ist es weniger stabil.

Noch diese Beobachtungen:

1. Ich lade das Plugin im windowless Modus (wmode=transparent) in einem DIV-Container
2. Nachdem das Video geladen ist, ändere ich dynamisch per JS/CSS die Abmessungen des DIV-Containers - das Webplugin skaliert dann die Videogröße entsprechend hoch oder runter.
3. Wenn ich jetzt den Fullscreen Modus aktiviere, dann wird dieser in Chrome fehlerhaft dargestellt (Video nach unten verschoben, weißer horizontale Balken am oberen Rand) - vout alignment issue?

Ausserdem ist mir aufgefallen, dass die "ESC" Taste den Fullscreen Modus nicht beendet (Chrome).

Möglicherweise sind diese Probleme durch die letzten Commits auf Git schon behoben. Die Version auf Dropbox ist ja schon 4 Tage alt.

Ich würde mich freuen, wenn du mir den Link schickst, sobald eine neue Binary kompiliert wurde.
