VLC Player Bug

Postby gohanrage » 18 Feb 2013 07:45

I am somebody who doesn't like VLC to Auto Scale my Videos to Full Screen since it makes low resolution videos look bad.

Tools -> Preferences -> ALL -> VIDEO -> uncheck Video Auto Scaling. Now play a Video which is HD and the video will not display Correctly.

I have the 1080P Big Buck Bunny Video which I know everyone can download to try.

with Video Auto Scaling unchecked I either get a Black screen or I get a Thick Vertical Black Bar on the right side of the Video. Once I check Video Auto Scaling again the Video displays properly.

If I had my way I would only ever use 2:1 zooming if the video was Low Resolution. only Doubling the Resolution usually doesn't make the video way less quality then viewing the video in Original 1:1 Scale

Video Auto Scaling is Required because my Monitor isn't 1080P
I have a Square CRT Monitor set at 1280x1024.
Video Auto Scaling Resizes the 1080P video to Fit to the size of VLC in FULL Screen which gives me the normal Letter Box which I do not mind one bit

I do alot of video downloading I have lots of videos from before HD resolutions were available. those videos shouldn't be zoomed anymore then double else they become really pixelated
