vlc + imon remote ?

Has anyone got a imon remote to work with the vlc player ? I have tried but without any luck
The vlc player are working with shortcuts [spacebar] = play and so on, but when I program that into my (x-mas present ) imon I get nothing.
Can anyone please help me out ?

VLC requires key focus on it's window for such shorts to work.. That's the only reason i can see this might not work...

(you have like these annoying msn popups for instance that sometimes take away the keyfocus from vlc....)
