Importing CD's Using VLC Media Player

I am having a heck of a time with my music collection. I am not super computer literate and I need a little assistance. How do I import my CD collection into my computer using VLC Media Player. I am trying to get away from ITunes. VLC Media Player is able to access and play the music already on my computer but I have been unable to figure out how to import all of my CD's and I want to use VLC. What am I missing?
