posted an error similar to cortig's over here: viewtopic.php?p=33261#33261.
Why there? Because I thought that was where I was supposed to :)
I wasn't using APE, so I don't know whether you have a bug you're tracking for this that I fit.

I've stumbled upon some mpeg4 video encoded files (two mp4v2 avis and one divx3 avi) in wich deinterlacing DOES work in 0.8.2 stable on windows. I can upload samples of the files to the ftp if you devs want me too ;)

VLC : File names with accents not displayed in the play list

Postby J-Luc » 22 Aug 2005 13:01

Hi,

With the last relase (0.8.2) of VLC under Windows :

"Au gré des vents - La couturière mixer.wma" is not displayed in the play-list, nor is "MASSAÏ". Only a totally empty line.

"The last Samurai" is displayed correctly.

Volume inconsistency

Postby Guest » 25 Aug 2005 04:42

Great program, I'm happy to have finally found a Vorbis player for OSX.

I also have some MP3s, too, and when playing some of them I notice that the volume is inconsistent, i.e., it gets much louder (disproportionately so) when an accent is present in the music or when the music hits a louder section, like the melody in a typical rock song (also, a sudden increase in the average amplitude of the waveform, if you need a visual). This doesn't happen with all of the MP3s I have, just some, so it might be a problem with the MP3s themselves, or I might need to change a setting (I've tried turning on and off the EQ and volume normalizer, with no effect) or two. I just figured I'd let you guys know. I'm running v0.8.2 on a G4 iBook with OS X 10.4.2 . Thanks.

still no Audio when streaming from VDR???

Postby batDan » 29 Aug 2005 12:58

Is there still no possibility to have sound when streaming from a VDR-box?

I really can't understand why the VLC-guys still ignore the by far best DVB personal video recorder, which is also open source... I WANT TO WATCH VDR STREAMS WITH VLC, PLEASE...
(mplayer is so slow compared to vlc on Mac OSX...)

I believe the issue is that VDR files are not valid mpeg files. This has been discussed before, over and over. nothing concerning the situation has changed over the past few months.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

Vlc on mac os 10.4.2

Postby Brunal » 01 Sep 2005 11:05

Hi,

Configuration is G4 with mac os 10.4.2.
With vlc 0.8.2, vlc doesn't crash but never start : it freeze when only the VLC menu appear in the menu bar, without any other menu (like : Fichier Edition Contrôles ...).

I just remove vlcrc from home/Library/Preferences/VLC/ and org.videolan.vlc.plist from home/Library/Preferences/ and it fix the problem.

Great job everyone, just continue the fight.

@ night_bird: That's a different problem. You don't have QuickTime 6.5.2 installed on your Mac and that's why VLC isn't able to run. There is a link on our download-page to download the update.

Fkuehne: thanks a lot!!
I download from the home page so i didn't see the requirement for Qt 6.5.2 :)
Maybe a add on on the home page could be useful for people like me who think that VLC is totally replacing QT !!!
thanks again, it works now
cheers
