Firefox VLC plugin conflicts with Quicktime plugin

Postby rocky » 02 Jan 2013 17:49

I have VLC 2.05, FF 17.01, Win7. If I have the Quicktime plugin enabled I can't change the filetypes in Firefox's Options>Applications to "Use VLC Web Plugin (in Firefox)". It won't be in the dropdown menu. I can browse to the actual VLC.exe and select it but it doesn't work. It still uses the Quicktime plugin. If Quicktime plugin is disabled then "Use VLC Web Plugin (in Firefox)" becomes available but then I can't view Quicktime files. I want to use the Quicktime plugin for some filetypes and VLC plugin for others. The VLC plugin is automatically set to some filetypes like .avi and .ogg but it doesn't allow me to choose which one. Is there a way I can do this?
