DivX file with Audio/Video sync problem

Postby seanb » 24 Aug 2005 22:33

I am trying to work with some AVI files, but the video and audio are badly out of sync. The video seems to be about 2-3 seconds behind the audio, consistently through the file. I have tried playing them with qucktime, vlc, and MPlayer, all to the same effect. I have installed the latest from 3vix and DivX.

QT reports the file to have the following properties: 3ivx D4 4.5.1, 640 x 368, Millions MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 48.000 kHz. VLC reports the same, although it claims the file is DivX.

I have tried fresh restarts with all applications. The files play fine when moved to a PC and played with Windows Media Player with DivX codecs installed. I have tried converting the files with Divx Doctor II, but the resultant files show the same problem.

Any ideas on how to correct this problem?

I am running a 12" powerbook 1.33 with 768MB. OS 10.4.2. Latest VLC, QT, and Mplayer.
