Audio stopped working on videos after update

Postby geneticEntity » 01 Dec 2012 19:00

Hello everyone. I'm another noobly noob who hopefully can get some help here with this issue.

This all started when my high-quality videos stopped playing right. They worked fine before, but now they had become laggy and the video looked like it was having a seizure. I have no idea why. I decided to update VLC, which I found I hadn't done in awhile because I still had version 1.0.5.. So I did, and the video problem was fixed, except now the audio won't play. The audio is still working on my computer, I have it turned on, and it'll play audio on music files, but it won't on video files. Not even on ones that aren't high quality. I got the Media Player Classic Home Cinema, (reluctantly, I like VLC more) which did fix the audio, however on some files (.m4v specifically) the video lagged and wouldn't sync with the audio.

Still, I would rather use VLC. The kinds of files I was using were .mp4 and .m4v, and some of the lower quality ones I tested were .flv and .mov, but that doesn't seem to matter as much because it looks like every video I've ever downloaded from the Internet won't play audio on VLC now. I have some videos that I recorded from home and their audio works fine on it.

So yeah, does anyone know what's going on?
