Problem with the streaming wizard TTL setting

Postby Craefter » 23 Aug 2005 10:42

Hi,

I've noticed with a packetsniffer (Ethereal, what else?) that no matter what you set as a TTL you resulting stream would always be a TTL of 1.

This means that streams created with the VLC wizard cannot pass any multicast enabled router.

Solution: Use the commandline TTL setting "--ttl <string>".

Using: VLC 0.8.2
OS: Windows XP

I believe you. Currently I've left the IPv4 domain and changed my lab to IPv6 to play around with multicasting.

If I notice any irregularities I'll whine here in the forum. ;)

Did you know that vlc is even better than MS Mediaplayer?
