Video Recording Playback Trouble

Whenever I use the Record button, the video clip turns out very distorted and pixely, like this:

The audio is completely fine, but these green boxes appear throughout the whole clip. Is there any way to fix this?

What is your OS ?
What is your VLC version ?
What is the source ?
Open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.
