Remember play-position on different files

I'm getting sick of saving playposition/file in notepad to manually get it back.
Thanks for posting alternatives that I can use until VLC has this feature (eg thekmplayer + MPC-HC).
I really like VLC, its still my favourite open source media player. I might have a go at adding this feature some day if I get sick of the alternatives.

Bookmarks?

Using bookmarks would be nice if they worked. I can never seem to get mine to work. I gave up trying many versions ago.

YES! This would be great. I rairly have the time to finish a movie in one sitting, I'm constantly having to try and figure out where I left off.

Either retain the bookmark information for each video file, or simply rember the last position and re-start at that point, like powerDVD and others do.

this feature should not be automatic, it should be a left click kinda job so menu "remember position" + question @ intro "Would You Like To Resume?" of video with assume after 30 secs whether it should be yes or no should be left to the User in Advanced Settings.

Doesn't work. You cannot write data to read only medias (like DVD and http locations).

It is easier to scroll back to start, than to exact place where left off. Agree that this should be an option, that user can set to automatic or manual.

This is the features i miss most in VLC and the reason I mostly use SMPlayer. In the first 20 reopened files with starting off where I left was weird and annoying, but from the 20+ it was great and after about 50+ an addiction ...

Also that you can use mouse buttons for hotkeys (called shortcuts) in SMPlayer as to VLC where you only have to mousewheel options: 1. Volume Control 2. Position Control !

Also love a full-screen control (interface) spanning the hole screen from right to left, making it easier to seek accurately with the (Position Control).

You can use "Remember position" VLC Extension script, "mempos.lua", that has been written and published recently by scientificswede: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=60602&start=40#p341295 <<<

New to VLC.
Typically I add playlists and files to VLC playlist.
If I exit VLC and reload VLC the playlist window is blank, is this by design?

OK I got it to work on normal media files, but it doesn't work on dvds. Any way to get it to work on dvds?
