Playing .ts files

Postby xdzgor » 13 Nov 2012 21:35

Hi - I have some .ts files generated on my PC with a "terractec" usb/tv device. I can play these files fine in the "terractec home cinema basic" application. But when I try to play them in VLC, there is no audio, only video. Can VLC play .ts files - do I need a special "audio codec" or something?
Thanks.

To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

Please upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts and then post the link to the file here.

Unfortunately I get this reply from http://streams.videolan.org/upload/:

Warning: copy() [function.copy]: Filename cannot be empty in /Library/WebServer/Documents/upload/upload.php on line 48
Your upload has completed. You may close the window now.

Thank you for helping out VideoLAN

The audio is AAC-LC LATM. But LATM muxing mode shouldn't be the problem as I have some other samples with AAC LATM which are playing fine with VLC. However AAC LC is quite unsual for a broadcast, all of the LATM samples I have are using AAC HE(v2).

No open source player I've tried could play the audio of this file, the only player that works is Arcsoft.

You should create a new ticket on the VLC Trac with your messages log and the links to your file and to this thread.
