Can anyone explain why "Customize Interface is so flacky?

Postby jagman55 » 11 Nov 2012 04:08

Years ago I started to use VLC and it has always had one major problem.

It loses the customization of the "Customize Interface" and reverts back to the default.

This does not happen rarely but all the time. Sometime Daily. I spend more time re-customizing the Interface that I do on any other application.
I have tried to find out how to "back it up" because it always reverts back.
I avoid updates as it NEVER failed to delete the customization of the buttons.

ANYONE know how to make VLC leave my customization alone? How to fix this issue?

Other than that one issue, it is a great player but having to constantly customize the interface, sure knocks downs its effectiveness with me as
he default is of very little use as i need and get used to my customization.

It is 2 PC's.
Both HP Pavilions

Both: Windows 7 Home Premium. 64bit..

The other day I customized my "custom Interface"

Used it for one day and day before yesterday, powered on, and it had goes back to default.

it is bugging me about updating but always said "no" as i knew I would have to re-program all over again as it wipes it out on "any" update, minor or not.

VLC media player 2.0.2 Twoflower? am i using the wrong VLC? There are lots of download sites.
?

Delete %appdata%/vlc folder.

Thanks, did a quick search on name~="appdata" in C: /Program Files (x86) / VideoLAN.... and no such folder. (And Program Files and Program Data. )

question:
1. was this suppose to keep VLC from constantly LOSING my customization of the menus?
2. Is there a way to SAVE, Backup, etc the "customization file" when VLC destroys it again.
3. When I updated today to VLC 2.04 twoflowers, was it not suppose to lose the customization but carry it over?
