Hi folks,
I am trying to stream a DVD from my windows XP machine to my PACE DSL 4000. I don't know how to get past the message that is displayed from the PACE box:
RTSP BM did not recognise the server version
Below are the details of my attempt.
The physical connections are (SaskTel Max internet and Video over IP):
*Telephone line to the Westell WireSpeed Modem (A90 - 200013 - 04)
*From the Modem to a SMC EZ Switch 10/100 105DT, connected to port 5 of the Switch
*From the Switch to the PACE DSL 4000 (DSL4000NT32), connected to port 2 on the Switch
*From the Switch to the windows XP machine, connected to port 4 on the Switch
Normally, we surf the web on the XP machine, and watch TV through the PACE DSL 4000.
I want to send video and audio to the PACE DSL 4000 from the XP machine.
I am using VideoLan VLC 0.8.4a. I start vlc from the command prompt with:
vlc --ttl 12 -vvv --color -I telnet --telnet-port 4212 --telnet-password admin --extraintf logger --verbose 2 --rtsp-host 64.110.abc.efg:5554 --logfile vlc_log.html --logmode html
Then, I used PuTTY to open a telnet window:
I.e., telnet 64.110.abc.efg 5554
Here is the output from my telnet session:
Password:
Welcome, Master
> new Test vod enabled
> setup Test input dvdsimple://D:
Once I have typed those commands, I bring up the WWW interface on the PACE DSL 4000 (by using the WWW. button on the remote).
I press the WWW. button again to bring up the "Go To" button. I have a keyboard and a mouse attached, so I click on the little life-preserver, and get the URL window. I clear out the
http://www. entry and enter:
rtsp://64.110.abc.efg:5554/Test
The box displays a black screen with a picture of a present, and then gives the message:
RTSP MB Did not recognise the server version
Any ideas on how to overcome this?
Thanks, David.
