Has .ape support been officially dropped in 2.0.4?

Postby mathiasthebold » 09 Nov 2012 22:03

I updated today to 2.0.4 from 2.0.3 and when I try to play .ape files, all that shows is a black "Direct 3D Output" window, in addition to the playlist being completely blacked out.

In the earlier iteration of VLC (generation 2.0x) I could skip a little ahead in the song and it would play. Now, the thing won't even start. This black window shows up every single time I try to play any .ape file. Its baffling to me that with this being a known issue (I've seen the support tickets elsewhere on this forum) for quite some time now, that things would actually go in the opposite direction, especially since .ape is still listed in the file type associations list.

I'm positive there is a very good reason for this, and I would appreciate any help you all out there could give me. Thanks.

Thanks. I suppose that will have to do. I seriously did not want to switch to WinAMP as an alternative, because its interface is horrid.

Please prepare a set of ape samples for a good bugreport.
