[Solved] Open Media: How to make a Blu Ray drive as default?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

[Solved] Open Media: How to make a Blu Ray drive as default?

Postby ibu » 09 Nov 2012 11:58

VLC version: 2.0.4-win64
OS: Win 7 64bit
BD drive: LiteOn IHOS104

My BD drive has the path "H:".

"Media > Open Disk" shows as default "DVD" and disk device "F".

How can I make "Blu Ray" and disk device "H" the default, please?

The best would be to have a shortcut for the Windows startmenu: "Start VLC and start the BD in drive H"

If that is possible, please give me a hint.

Thanks.

Something else (it is not worth a new thread):
DVDs offer a DVD menu, which can be reached via Shift+M.

This shortcut has no effect for a BD.

Is there no way to go to a BD menu?
I would like to navigate to other chapters.

"Playback > Chapter" shows only unnamed chapters ("chapter 1"). That is not a help to choose a content.

@Jean-Babtiste
Thanks for your answer.
Please, where do I have to enter that command?

Create a .bat file or a new VLC shortcut

Hhmm. I don't know programming, so I can't create a .bat file.

I tried to create a shortcut for the start menu:
Target: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe bluray:///H:"
Exexute: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC"

But that is not accepted by the OS.

Sorry, I don't want to bother you Jean-Baptiste. I'm sure you have better things for VLC to do, than teaching a newbie how to create shortcuts.

May be there's someelse reading this and likes to help.

Thanks Jean-Baptiste :)

Target: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" bluray:///H:
or
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" bluray:///H:/

@mederi
Works perfectly! Thanks :)

Please allow me to ask a question about navigation inside a BD.

Shift+M does not show a BD menu.

"Menu Playback > Chapter" does not show any named chapters, but just a numbered list.

Is there any way to get a list of named chapters for navigation?

Sorry, I do not have a BD, so I do not have experience with it so far. Perhaps Jean-Baptiste or somebody else knows.

Ideally VLC would "detect", if it's a DVD or a BD and start it with appropriate settings.

Than I wouldn't need two different entries in the start menu - one for BDs and another for DVDs.

Is that possible?
