Exporting radio stations

Postby Bic » 28 Sep 2012 19:44

Hi everyone,

This question might have a very simple answer, but I can't find it anywhere.

I want to save (export ?) hundreds of handpicked radio stations I've gathered in my VLC media library and install those
in the latest VLC player. I'm currently using 1.1.12 The Luggage. An update would probably do the trick,
but I prefer to uninstall the older version before I move to the newest.
Does anybody know how to save or export them ?

Help is needed, I'd hate to lose them.

The media library is saved on upgrade, but if you want a backup, select the "Media Library", and do File→Save Playlist to File.

Hi edwardw,

I tried the backup you suggested, but this results in an XML file of only 295 BYTES with a very short document tree.
Unless the <extension application="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/0">
</extension> is a link to an online backup, there must be something wrong.
Any thoughts ?
Thank you very much.

Hmm, start VLC fresh, go to Media Library, Ctrl-A, drag them to Playlist, then try "Save Playlist to File"?

That worked for me.

Thanks Edwardw.
