VLC First run warning after every reboot

Postby flamesong » 06 Oct 2012 02:21

Whenever I reboot and launch VLC (2.0.3), I get the warning from my Mac (OS X 10.7.5) that I am launching VLC for the first time. This doesn't happen with any other applications. What's going on? Anybody any clues?

Apple released a supplemental update to fix issues with gatekeeper - you might be affected. Please check whether your OS is up to date. When clicking on the version string in the "About This Mac" dialog accessible through the Apple menu, you should see "Build 11G63".

If this doesn't help, make sure that you correctly copied VLC.app to the Applications folder on your hard drive (probably called "Macintosh HD").

Thanks, I had been having the Time Machine/Spotlight problem which was the main purpose of the update - the Gatekeeper issue had passed me by but it seems to have cured the problem.

Unfortunately, this has started again.

I have the correct Build of Lion (11G63) and Security & Privacy is set to allow any applications - probably not the most sensible setting but ought to stop these constant warnings.

Sorry to bump this but it's starting to annoy me. The only way around it at the moment is to keep VLC running all the time but it still happens after a reboot.

Can anybody help, please?

Is VLC correctly installed in the startup volume's Applications folder and does your user account have write access to it?
