m2ts files won't advance video beyond opening frame

Postby zmzmzm » 01 Oct 2012 03:02

Hi:
I am running Windows XP pro. I want to play M2ts files. They open fine and play great audio -- but the video does not advance. It just stays on the opening frame - even though the slider progresses - as does the audio. If I advance the slider manually - it shows the video frame that is at that point -- but then it just stays at that frame as the slider continues. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

AMD 1.94 GHZ
1.75 MB ram
plays files at correct speed when converted to WMV. Files play in Panasonic proprietary software.
Perhaps the problem is that the window is too big in VLC player. In fact it tries to display across dual monitors, even when
the second monitor is turned off. I can get it to resize to a single monitor, but I can't get the VLC window to resize to a
smaller size - so it is trying to play full screen all the time.

Have you tried

VLC > View > (untick) Full Screen Interface

Does this help?

doesn't help. No matter what I check or uncheck in the view menu --- the entire screen is filled.

What about your Windows Control Panel / other Graphics settings if not a VLC issue. Anything there?

Actually, does this happen using other Media Player apps or just VLC? If just VLC then must be related to that app I think

I have one other app that overflows to the second monitor. It is called "typefaster." My other programs don't do that. Photoshop lets you put
palettes on a second screen --- but you have to deliberately put them there.

I bought more ram - so I will have 3 GB instead of 1.75. I'll find out in a few days (when the ram comes) if that helps the video display.
