Uninstall routine attemps deletion from incorrect path?
Just curious, I always install VLC to D:\Programme\VLC. However, when I install a new version and I ask VLC to remove the previously installed version, VLC tries to remove itself from the default dir "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC" rather than the one it's been actually installed to. How come? Installing from the installer package should write the correct path to the registry, no?

Yes, this is a known issue awaiting for a fix (ticket 7456).
