newbie question - don't make fun

hi there, i can't seem to install VLC on mac os x 10.2. i've downloaded the file and opened up the .dmg. then i get the volume on my desktop. i then try and open the application, and it bounces up and down in the dock for a second but won't open? what's the deal?

QuickTime 6.5.2 is required to run VLC as stated on our download page. Obviously, it's not installed on your Mac.
