VLC and TS Files

Hello,

is it possible to play TS Files with VLC?
I tried it without succes.

Is there another program which can play TS Files?

it is possible. Could you paste VLC's debug output so we can try to see why it won't work ?

In my case, nothing will happen.

I drop the TS-file onto VLC, and nothing will happen.

i can open them via file-> but the audio drops out about twice a minute for around 1/4 of a second

From what source do you get the TS? Sounds like the internal structure is somewhat misaligned, e.g. packetizing or PCR. Take a look in the Debug or Messages window which may give some additional hints on what's wrong.

I've some software to record DVB which generates TS files and it took me a long way for the result to get played on various players. And I'm still not at the finishing line - although VLC feels fine most of the time sometimes audio is not respected or needs a couple of restarts (!) of VLC to be displayed. On a DBox2 some TV station recordings show an effect similiar to what you describe. And and and... So to summerize: the TS may simply not follow the rules of a TS file if generated by software.
