black screen (or white, no image) with (avc1) codec

black screen (or white, no image) with (avc1) codec

Postby RichieBeirach » 29 Aug 2012 11:18

H264- MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)

merci

White screen with the codec (avc1)

H264-MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)

Here are 2 files recorded with the record button VLC 2.0.x

first: I recorded a freebox tv channel with vlc, it is perfectly readable
http://dl.free.fr/r62YLb8ef

but it is not possible to edit video, indeed:
when I decided (in VLC) to record (with the button) a part of this video

the result is white screen (sound is ok)
here the result
http://dl.free.fr/vVbxVeRjh

all under VLC

NOTE: using save button is just an example, if I cut, with another way the video (: start-time .. etc) the result is the same
more even the first file, readable and well recognized in VLC, is not editable in other software (codec Indeterminate!)

if someone could guide
merci

So you have recorded again a recorded file.

I think there are two issues with the original file:

Code: Select all

Frame rate mode : Variable Frame rate : 24.104 fps Original frame rate : 25.000 fps Minimum frame rate : 8.342 fps Maximum frame rate : 25.667 fps Scan type : MBAFF
It's using a variable frame rate mode, and that's a VLC annoyance when creating MP4 files (see ticket 7376), and it's also using MBAFF interlaced mode which is hard to deal with.

I'm afraid what you need is a dedicated video editor, and VLC is not one.
