trying to play StarTrek XI Blue ray after getting the keadb.cfg and 32 bit AACS dynamic library file I get the error in vlc

Blu-Ray error:
AACS MMC failed.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///H:/'. Check the log for details.

and a file named drl is created in the aacs folder after vlc reports the error
This means the dll downloaded for libaacs is corrupted. Please take a fresher one.

VLC has played at least he main Titles of all of quite a few recent Criterion BD releases, but has failed to play "The Royal Tenenbaums"

Tried recopying both recommended files (64bit) into their respective places, overwriting existing files, just in case.

What doe these errors indicate, and what is the work around in VLC?

Thanks all!

Thank you for your speedy reply Jean-Baptiste! I am running Vista-64 here. I thought I was using the experimental 64-bit version 2.01-win64 which my archive shows I last dl around 6/10/12. After reading you reply, I tried the internal updater, and it said it dl and updated to 2.02, but when I recheck it, it seems to be repeating the same update, non of which have been to 2.03.

http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... ast/win64/ seems to list more recent 64-bit versions, though I am not sure. Should I dl directly from there, and if so, which one?

Thanks again JB!

I would advise win32 for this matter.

Thank you for your reply JB. OK. I updated to the 32-biit v. 2.03, and put the 32-bit AACS dynamic library file in place.

No valid processing key found in AACS config file.

What version of AACS is your disk using?

Thank you for your reply. How would that be determined? I do not see it mentioned on Criterion's page ( http://www.criterion.com/films/230-the-royal-tenenbaums ), I do not see this info listed on DVDBeaver's review ( http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCompar ... baums_.htm ), DVD Verdict does not have a review for the BD posted yet, Blu-ray.com has "Video codec: MPEG-4 AVC" listed. and Amazon does not seem to list it either. Thanks JB.

A query of their Forum for "The Royal Tenenbaums" returned no results. I did find a recent thread, listing recent releases (similar to what I inquired about whether not it would be suitable for this forum in above posts in this thread), but it was for Region 4, and did not see The Royal Tenenbaums in it. http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=48248

Thanks for your reply. I did note this from the linked page: "Known Issues ...
BDInfo will *NOT* function correctly with copy-protected discs. You will also need to have SlySoft AnyDVD HD (or equivalent) running in the background in order to gather info from commercial Blu-ray movie discs."

I have followed the instructions above to the letter.

64 bit installed
downloaded the two files

i get the following message:

Code: Select all

Blu-Ray error: This Blu-Ray Disc needs a library for BD+ decoding, and your system does not have it. Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///H:/'. Check the log for details.
[/color]

any ideas?

"The Hunger Games": Playlist Obfuscation

Postby WhatsAMatterYou » 21 Aug 2012 20:44

The Lionsgate USA version of "The Hunger Games" from NetFlix apparently did play here, with one anomaly: Several times during playback, it would interject the same short segment from the film (less than two minutes, each time), and then continue from the point of interruption. Folks are reporting that the Title is being shipped with "playlist obfuscation". The run time shown was about ten or so minutes longer that that listed, so perhaps this explains it. What is wrong with these people?

See: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=53867 and http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=54020

We still have no substantive response to the situation concerning the failure/errors in attempting to play the Criterion release of "The Royal Tenenbaums", and the software suggested by JB to provide disc info. The title has been returned.

For those VLC users contemplating viewing the title "The Separation" from Netflix (USA), note that it too will not play.

Hi,
I installed the aacs lib and the key database (UPDATED 20-04-2012!) I got no error from the vlc player if I choose the BD drive to load the video.
But after loading the BD and click the play button i see nothing. Only the default VLC logo will be printed :(

For debugging:

BD Video: Step up 3D
OS: Win 7 x46
VLC Version: 2.0.2 x32 (VLC.exe started as admin)
Experimental: VLC 2.0.2. x64 (VLC.exe started as admin)

in the %appdata%/aacs
it will be create a new sub folder after click the play button from the VLC player called "vuk".
inside of this subfolder the file "ef5e2124edb86233b73e31b0f4fbe21482ebd70f" would be created...

But the film does not start. Same problem from the x32 and x64 version of VLC. :-|

Any idea for a quick fix? I bought this BD from the videothek and I can not watch this...

I just installed the 64 bit version, added the aacs directory (and put the key in there), and made sure I put the 64bit dll into the 64 bit installation directory of VLC. It worked! Well, sort of.

I can now play my discs, which is great! But I cannot play a blu ray folder which I ripped (I prefer playing from my hard disk, and if I am traveling it is nice to be able to watch my movies without having to worry about losing discs or damaging them).

Any advice? You would think it would be the same thing, whether the folders are on the blu ray disc or on my hard disk, but evidently not. I don't have this problem with ripped DVD titles.

I had the exact same issues you guys are describing. Turns out I had downloaded the incorrect libaacs.dll. Make sure you have the correct libaacs.dll:

Go to http://vlc-aacs.whoknowsmy.name/
Check the install directory of your VLC.

If the directory is: "c:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC" you need to download the 64bit dll.
If the directory is: "c:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC" you need to download the 32bit dll.

I am now able to play Blu Rays with no problem. Hope this helps!
I registered just to come and thank you.
I've been fighting all day amongst ubuntu, xbmc, Windows, KmPlayer, PutPLayer and now VLC to simply play Blu-rays on my HTPC.

64 bit windows, 32 bit program directory - makes sense now. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
