VLC for Web TV box with Android 2.2?

As I had read in test reports that "smart tvs" aren't really that smart I bought a small "Meteorit FullHD Web TV Box with Android 2.2" (identical with ACRyan Veolo, but with slightly less complex firmware). It is already doing more than a smart tv does. I was also able to install AndroidPIT. However, certain things don't work which do work on any laptop or computer, mostly thanks to VLC.

I don't own a smart phone and have no real knowledge about Android. It seems, though, that one could use a smart phone and VLC remote to share, say, a tv program that is running on a pc or laptop. But that is quite inelegant.

What I would like to have is VLC in my Web TV Box so that it would work like a pc. Is that at all possible with Android?

As I'm doing this for my Hungarian girlfriend's new (big) tv, I tried the (bad) standard Hungarian tv, but it didn't work and produced an error message I'd seen before:

"This product does not support flash videos!" (Although this box is said to be flash-capable.)

Strangely, I managed to get it appear once (after a reboot), but without sound and without a possibility to enlarge to full screen.

But, anyway, this is progress!

Here I didn't get any error message. It just didn't work. Same with Klubrádió in Budapest. But it's format is .m3u which seems to be known as being problematical (althoughI can get it via my Chumby).

If you have another suggestion, I will try it out tonight, but respond only tomorrow. I had a very long day...

Does the build I linked above start up? Can you play local files with it? Try some rtsp:// or http:// streams. (I think the URLs you linked above are not media streams, which is why VLC won't open it. Try them on desktop VLC.)

Yes, it started up. By local files, you mean videos on a USB stick?

At least the Hungarian tv URL is working fine on my pc (sound, full screen). Klubradio stalls at the moment...

Another Hungarian tv station works, too (ATV.hu). But it stopped being able to be enlarged to full-screen practically at the second attempt.

This box is a mystery...
