50 fps stutter .TS files (post 1.1.7)

Postby danielmak » 25 Aug 2012 07:52

I see that there is a post about stuttering with .TS files in the Windows forum but can't find anything in the Mac forum.

I work on three different Mac computers for a media project: two are running Snow Leopard and one is running Lion. I also have 3 different versions of VLC 1.1.3, 1.1.9, and 2.0.3 (the last was just updated today and had been running 2.0.1 I believe). Whenever I play .TS files from HDTV>.TS with a framerate of 50fps I get a stutter except when playing on 1.1.3, which is smooth. The stutter looks like a PAL>NTSC or NTSC>PAL conversion in that every few seconds the image seems to stutter for a milisecond. Again, none of these TS files are Blu-Ray rips and I experience the problem with PAL or NTSC (the former tending to be Russian DVB-T and the the latter USA DVB-S). I should add that my colleague uses 1.1.7 and does not see the stutter, so something seems to have changed between 1.1.7 and 1.1.9 continuing into 2.0.x. Is there something I can do to fix this problem? Thanks.

EDIT: Of course right after I posted this, another thread appears just below this one that is about stuttering. I tried the tips listed for fixing FFMPEG and they didn't help with 2.0.1
