Enable subtitles by default

Postby UnfaithfulDeparted » 03 Aug 2012 14:43

When I play a movie in VLC the subs will not come on automatically. Under the Video tab the subtitle track is greyed out until the film starts and then when clicked the disable is ticked.When the movie starts the subtitle track is nt greyed out but is still at disable. The subs title icon is just below the disable and on clicking that the subs will come on. Is there a way to have them come on automatically?

Under preferences subtitles/OSD autodetect subtitle files enable sub pictures and on screen display are all ticked. It is a .divx extension created with http://www.videohelp.com/tools/AVIAddXSubs

I want to play a movie and have the subtitles come on automatically.
Under preferences subtitles/OSD autodetect subtitle files/ enable sub pictures/ and on screen display are all ticked.Why will the subs not come on automatically?

Did you activate track 1 in preferences?

i do not see that option in preferences.There is an option in the player under video/subtitles track but that is greyed out till film starts. i then have to go to video/subtitles track and choose it. But i want it to start automatically with the film. i have version 2.0.2 TwoFlower

Preferences->All->Input/codecs
On the right, you can select subtitles ID

Preferences->All->Input/codecs
On the right, you can select subtitles ID
Track 1 says -1
When I changed to 1 I have to click video/subs/open file. When I chaged back to -1 I still have that
What should it be at? How do you mean activate it? Thanks

EDITfixed it by resetting preferences. Now the subs come on automatically. Thanks.

PS the cone icon is because you are from Cone? Often wondered. Cool

I am using VLC to access a HDHomeRun TV Tuner and that all works well. I can also turn ON SUBTITLES manually, but I want to set the default for subtitles to always be ON. I have tried many combinations of the subtitle setting, all with no subtitles on startup? Any ideas?
