Feature request

Postby Suryashis » 28 Jul 2012 17:08

I use vlc in my sony ericsson xperia neo v with a 1 ghz single core cpu and 512 mb ram running on stock gingerbread firmware. Here vids upto 480p runs perfectly smoothly but cannot play even very short 720p vids. However mx player faces no problem playing even whole length 720p feature films. I still use vlc because of its beautiful music and video player integration. I wud like to get some features in the future releases of vlc for android:
1.ability to change screen brightness by swiping on screen
2.altering font size of subtitles
3.editing file details (id tags) of audio files
4.download (and preferably ingrate directly into the audio files) album art
5.a back/previous and a forward/next button
6.10 band equaliser
7.(in near future) ability to play 720p vids smoothly in my device as well.

Did you enable hardware acceleration in the VLC preferences?

I do not see any back and forward button in vlc player in gingerbread; can't say about ICS.
Even after enabling hardware acceleration 720p vids are freezing and pixelating every 2sec or so.
Would like to control screen brightness while playing the vid without interrupting it.
Also I personally do not think separate pause and stop buttons are reqd while playing media files.
An onscreen menu button could be a nice and desirable addition. I really hate to repeatedly press the hardware buttons.

Now I've been using vlc in my xperia neo v that I have updated to ICS 4.0.4 firmware and I am satisfied to see that it can still handle low res large files just like in GB 2.3.4. But I am really disappointed to see no beta updates since 19 July. Been waiting for the features supposed to be added as said in the reply to my post.

VLC is a volunteer project, not a commercial product. There is no timeline nor guarantee that anything will be added.
