how to control what vlc converts automaticly

I am haveing a problem with vlc converting almost every file I download. I am trying to stop it from converting ISO files for my emulators, all the setting are at default Is there a way to stop and even convert back the files to there original type?

VLC doesn't do such thing automatically. It will not convert anything on its own until you expressly use the convert feature. And even if you use the convert feature it will not alter the original source file in any way.
