Missing time

Postby TechnoIlliterate » 05 Jul 2012 15:25

I need to add subtitles to a video, but I need the time they should appear obviously, and there is no time displayed on the window. It stays at 00:00 the whole way through... So I used a stopwatch to find out when they should appear, and got it fine. But when I loaded the subtitle file, first it said that it couldn't read it, and then it just didn't do anything. It no longer says it can't read it but just doesn't have subtitles, and I thought it could be because VLC doesn't "know" when to display the subtitles because it doesn't have time... Any ideas?

May be something wrong with the original video. If it doesn't detect timecode to show the current time throughout, then it doesn't have a reference on when to show the subtitles... at least that's my theory.
