Can't play dvb-t recordings (.ts)

Hi everybody,

I have a DVB-T antenna and a hard drive hooked up to my TV (a Sharp 22LE510E). Recordings work perfectly on the tv itself, if I try to open them on my PC with VLC, it only displays a black screen & VLC logo. File title and 0:00 timestamp are shown for some seconds before VLC then goes into "standby".

Win 7 Ultimate (SP1) on an Intel Core i5-2500 using VLC 2.0.1

MediaInfo on a file says nothing but this:

I'm guessing it's something about the way my TV saves the files? Unfortunately, there's almost zero information or settings in the TV.
Any help or idea what I can do would be appreciated.

Can you provide the video file information with MediaInfo(http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net)?
And uploading the short sample would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply. I've provided the MediaInfo above, yes it's only these 2 lines (I've checked with other video files and they give much more info so I shouldn't be missing a setting in MI or something).
But I've uploaded a short sample recording plus its MediaInfo here (.ts) and here (.txt). VLC now opens this file, gives a length of 1:43, runs the black screen&logo up to 0:11 and then stops. Hope this helps.

ps: Again the TV itself plays this recording without a problem, previewable, searchable etc. So it seems the file is not totally broken.

I tried several media players to play the file (2012052310332001.ts), but no media player can play it. MediaInfo cannot recognize file information, only file size.

According to the operation manual of your TV(LC22LE510E_OM_GB.pdf):

• Recorded programmes are saved into the connected
USB disk in .TS format (MPEG-2 transport stream).
If desirable, you can back up / copy these saved
recordings into a personal computer.
Note: It is possible that recorded broadcasts in
.TS format may not be supported by your media
playback software. In such a case, you should install
an appropriate media playback software to your
computer.

For me, it's untrue.
I also check the dump of the file, at least it's not MPEG-TS.

Well, you should ask to Sharp what is the appropriate media playback software.

That's too bad I'm not very hopeful that Sharp will be much of a help. Thank you for your effort though!
